Lalitpur, Nepal – On the occasion of World Environment Day, Nepali celebrities faced-off against Constituent Assembly members and environmentalists at a friendly football match organized in Kathmandu to raise awareness on climate change issues.
The event titled “Goal Against Climate Change” was held at the ANFA Stadium in Satdobato.

The match was a lively affair with the players enthusiastically participating in the field while teammates sportingly threw jabs at each other from the sidelines. From the celebrities side, players included VJ Suraj Singh Thakuri, singer Komal Oli and actress Gauri Malla. While, CA members Gagan Thapa and Raj Kaji Maharjan were among the prominent players in the other team, which also included various environmentalists.

Climate for Life Ambassador Dawa Steven Sherpa also represented the environmentalists in this Team.

In the end, the celebrities went home with the trophy, with a score of 7-1. However, all agreed that, rather than winning or losing, what mattered was that personalities from different walks of life had come together and unitedly worked towards raising awareness about this vital issue.

WWF, as part of its Climate for Life Campaign, supported the event, organized by the Nepalese Youth for Climate Action.
