Kathmandu, Nepal - Six high-profile personalities from various sectors came together last week in Kathmandu and pledged to work towards raising awareness on the urgent issue of Climate Change in the Himalayas.

Coming under the single banner of Climate for Life, these dedicated individuals who have excelled in their own respective fields have now taken up the challenge to raise their voice on Climate Change issues.

Each of the Climate for Life Ambassadors -  Amrita Thapa Magar, Anil Chitrakar, Apa Sherpa, Dawa Steven Sherpa, Gagan Thapa and Nirvana Chaudhary – are well-known in their own sectors. They have all realized the urgency of the situation when it comes to Climate Change and the impacts it is having on the Himalayas and vowed to work towards raising awareness on this cause whether it be in politics, business and industry, tourism or civil society.

The six Ambassadors are Amrita Thapa Magar (Chairman, Natural Resources Committee of Constituent Assembly); Anil Chitrakar (Social Entrepreneur and Ashoka Fellow); Apa Sherpa (19-times Everest Summiteer); Dawa Steven Sherpa (Private sector entrepreneur and 2-times Everest Summiteer); Gagan Thapa (Young political leader) and Nirvana Chaudhary (Executive Director, Chaudhary Group).
